Medal Of Honor
The first video game of the series, appeared in 1999 for the video game console PlayStation, becoming one of the few video games of the Second World War in that generation of consoles.
After diminishing the graphics of the prototype and removing the excessive and unnecessary "bleeding" of the enemies, the final version became one of the best-selling and most influential videogames of the time, especially due to its cinematographic development that was increasing with the time promoted by its creator, Steven Spielberg, transforming it into the first of a cult series. The player takes on the role of a US Army lieutenant named James "Jimmy" Patterson, who works for the OSS (Office of Strategic Services) in missions against German troops of a secret nature, since he uses the concept of a man against all army, despite the fact that the game is set in a large-scale war. It is a game based on historical events but from the perspective of first-person missions. Missions vary from infiltration in a U-Boot submarine to destroying Hitler's plans to create his own atomic bomb in Norway. James Patterson, who although he only works in 3 videogames (Medal of Honor, Frontline and Heroes), is the main protagonist of the complete series speaking generically, in this game he develops 7 independent missions one of another, where he fulfills objectives in linear maps and defeat enemies. At the outset he rescues documents from a downed spy, then infiltrates the enemy lines to destroy an iron cannon, then destroys a German submarine prototype and then goes into the Schmerzen mustard factory, which is rebuilt in the Allied Assault and destroyed by Mike Powell, then Jimmy sabotages the nuclear project of the Third Reich, in the next mission, goes into the mission of rescuing some works of art destined to be burned, to finally submerge us in the race to destroy a V2 rocket, perhaps the best mission of the whole game. As co-protagonists of the games we are introduced to Colonel Hargrove who appears in several other titles as OSS high command and to Manon Batiste, French resistance, William Holt, another member of the OSS who prevented an atomic bomb from exploding in the Battle of the Ardennes and the Marine J. Griffin runs operations in the Pacific. The relationship or connection between the protagonist with some of the co-stars (or even among the last named) turns out to be enigmatic but at the same time intriguing. For example: Manon Batiste is the protagonist of Medal of Honor: Underground but in the first title was responsible for informing James Patterson in the missions he had to perform, and even later, William Holt (protractor of Medal of Honor: European Assault) is sent to rescue Manon who was mysteriously captured by the Nazis. However, these connections ironically create confusion chronologically. Something very remarkable of the game is the soundtrack composed by Michael Giacchino, being one of the most remembered thanks both to the soundtracks of the titles that were released for the PS1, as in any other platform after it. Such is the case that in Medal of Honor: Airborne some classic musical themes of the first games of the series had been recycled, possibly by nostalgia. Also characterized by its weapons, few and one in each level of the title, which are: High Standard with silencer, Walther P38, M1911, M1 Garand, S1903, MP40, Thompson, Bazooka M9, fragmentation grenade, garnet stick and shotgun.
